HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. REPORTED SUCCESSES IN FRANCE. Wellington, Last Night. The Prime Minister 1m? received the following from the High Commissioner:— London, Feb. 2, 4.30 a.m. Paris reports that the enemy violently attacked our trenches north' of the La Bassee-Bethunc road on Monday, and were repulsed with heavy losses. German infantry, in attempting to surprise a trench at Beaumonthamel, were put to flight. There is great activity in the Fontaine Madame and Lagruric forest region. The enemy's attack in the direction of Bagatelle was repulsed.
