I ALLEGATIONS OF INCOMPETENCY ■ { j Received 29, 12.5 a.m. ; Melbourne, January 28. The Argus, discussing the failure of the censor's prosecution of a Perth newspaper, declares that one or two of the principal censors carry out toeir duties with tact and courtesy, but, i generally speaking, the censorship is j conducted in Australia by a woefully scratch crew, with little or no knowledge of the world or of public opinion, and quite unversed in newspaper work. These persons have been altogether unable to make an intelligent application t of the regulations provided for their guidance. The paper adds: "The Perth case shows what abuses must inevitably arise from employing men not comj petent to do the highly paid work they • have undertaken."
