EMPIRE PICiTUEES. Another large audience assembled at the Empire last night to witness tlve new programme. "The Mystery of the Stolen Documents" is the feature iilm. This is a story in which the Minister for Foreign All'airs entrusted a legal document of great and serious importance bearing upon the negotiotions for peace between Spain and Portugal, to the Minister of Justice. It is sealed and placed in a bureau prior to being sent into the secret deposit for such weighty deeds. Tn a twinkling it disappears—it is stolen. The mystery is complete. It is eventually traced, but in the meantime, it is a play to keep continually on their mettle the most expert guessers and solvers of puzzles, amongst theatre goers. Supporting films are well selected and were thoroughly enjoyed. This programme is* screened finally to-night.

ROYAL PICTURES. To be shown nt the Royal to-morrow is a Vitgraph draniii of excellence, uiit'tled "The Two-step Children." Joe Leigh, a lad from tin: country, whore he lives with his Nncle .labcz, meets Hazel Hall, whose life is made miserable by her naming stepmother. Joe falls heir to 500 dollars, and -lahez tries to inducehim to invest the money in the farm. He goes to New York to study art. but loses his money. Hazel also comes to New Vol!.-, hut is so unfortunate that she despondently steals forth to end it ail. Hy a. strange coincidence, ,!oe, homesick, and tired of the struggle, wander.: down to the river, where he sees Hazel lliug herself inlo the river. He plunges in and brings the lialf-uneonscious girl to shore, hac.h learns the story of the ■ other's trials and experiences, doe's sense of protection is aroused by her helplessness and he goes to work with a purpose. Shortly after, an art patron, who has become interested in Joe, gives him a start, which enables him to care for Hazel for life.
