TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

| MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Taranaki I Land Board was held at New Plymouth 'on Wednesday. Present: Messrs (i. H. Bullard, Commissioner of Crown Lands, (ia the chair), C. J. Ryan, and W. AV. Jones. SURRENDER OF LEASE. The application of G. S. Hobbs (Inglevvood) to surrender a year-to-year lease of section 8, block 11, Omona S.D., was approved and the surrender accepted, j ! DIFFICULTY OF ACCESS. Messrs Sehreiber and Hunter, licensees of section 3, block 14, Upper Waitaru S.D., 315 acres, selected o n October 'JO, IUOS, who were in default with improvements to the value of £204 10s, urged that the deficiency was due to want ol access to the holding.—lt was decided to recommend the Minister to apply the provisions of section 103 of the Land ■Act and relieve the selectors to the extent of one-half of the prescribed improvements. Acting o n the reports of Ranger Meredith, it was decided to open for settlement section 13, block 1, Upper Waitara S.D., 75 acres; sections 13, 14, 15 and 18, block !), Waro S.D.; and section 7, block 2, Opaku.

NON-RESIDENCE. Ranger Meredith reported non-resid-pnee by N. Neustrowski, licensee of 0.R.P., section 8, block 10, Malioe S.D. The licensee notified that he would build and reside after his burn. —Extension of time was granted until June 30, 1915, in which to build and take up continuous residence.

Ranger Meredith reported non-resid-•nce by ft. T. 15. Kenah, lessee of L.I.P. section 17, block 5, Upper Waitara S.D. —Mr. Kenah now applied for leave of absence, as he had been accepted for active service.—lt was decided to grant 12 months' leave of absence.

Ranger Meredith reported that C. S. Menefy, lessee of R.L. section 4, block 4, Kapara S.D., 310 acres, was in default with improvements. The lessee asked for extension of time in which to comply.—Six months' extension of time granted. TRANSFERS. Transfers were approved: A G. Fischer and J. G. Willdon, lessees of section 7, block 12, Upper Waitara, 565 acres, provided Mr. Fischer carried out the residence conditions Jno. N. Gamlin, E.R. section 1, block 7, Kaupokonui S.D., 320 acres, was granted transfer to Reginald E. Gamlin Charles Howie, lessee of L.I.P. section 8, block 5, Kapara S.D., 748 acres. S. Parkes and Thos. H. Brooker, sublessees of section 44, block 11, Opunake S.D., three acres, to Walter Chas. Clament.

Frederick E. Thompson, lessee of L.I.P section 12, block 11, Heao S.D., 328 acres.

R. E. Till, licensee of O.R.P. seetion 6, block 4, Aria S.D., 627 acres (half share) to Arthur Aldridge. Eleanor Mary Thompson licensee of O.R.P. section 17, block 5, Tangitu S.D., 297'/ s acres. Geo. 1). Parsons and Lewis B. Parsons, sub-lessees of E.R. section 57, block 10, Kaupokonui S.D., 241 acres, to Geo. Si. Parsons and Jos. H. Jarsons.

The application of Emily White, lessee of L.I.P. section 9, block 15, Aria S.D., 269 acres 3 roods, to transfer to Rose Carter was deferred for ranger's report.

SUB-LEASE. M. I. Bocoek, lessee of section 3, bloek 7, Mimi, 190 acres, applied to sublet to A. H. Featherstone.—Approved. THIRDS. A schedule of proposals for expenditure of "thirds" was forwarded for: — Waitomo County Council, to September 30, 1914, £587 5s Cd; Okato Road Board, £4 0s 2d; Clifton County Council, to September 30, 1914, £512 4s 7d It was resolved to recommend for approval, subject to satisfactory report from the ranger, in each instance

I GENERAL j L. C. H. Kllicott, lessee of section (i, l block 11, Tangitu S.D., 577 acres, was ! granted six months' extension of time. Jas. Patterson applied for a temporary lease of about one acre, part of section 6, block 1, Rangi S.D., for enclosing as a ! horse paddock.—Left in the Commission' er's hands. W. M. Peterson, lessee of section 1?, block 11, Mapara, leaving with the Expeditionary Force, was granted exemption from residence and extension ol time to effect improvements. Consideration of application of Miriam Jury, lessee of sections 80 and 88, Spotswood, for 12 months' extension to complete improvements was deferred. ' Ranger Tolnii: forwarded reports on six holdings, of an area of 1939 acres 1 rood 25 perches. Improvements required were £072, and those effected £1315. One defaulter re residence and one defaulter re improvements.—Report received.
