The wool sales were hold in Wellington to-day, 22,230 hales being offered. There was a substantial rise in price on the December Wellington rates realised, and a full half-penny above those at Invercargill for medium and coarse erossbreds, around which competition centred. Evidently Bradford manufacturers have renewed their orders for khaki Superior crossbred brought to 13% d, medium 12'/nd to 13d, coarse ll%d to 12% d, inferior to 10% d. There was strong competition for superior lambs.

WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. HIGH PRICES. Wellington, Last Night. Exceptionally high prices were realised for medium and coarse crossbred wools at the third sale of the Wellington series, held at the Town Hall to-day There was a full bench of buyers, and from the outset it was made quite plain that competition was going to be exceptionally keen. The attention of buyers was concentrated almost entirely on wools suitable for khaki or uniforms. What are technically known as "fortysixes cardings" arid "forty-sixes and fbrty-eights preparing" were most in request, providing woollens. eminently suitable for military requirements. Since the local sales were held here in December, prices have advanced fully ISd per pound, a sensational advance for so short an interval, and since the Invcrcargill I'sales only a few days ago the rise has [ been fully Jd to :]d per pound on prices paid there for a similar class of wool. The combined catalogues totalled 22;219 bales, and tile range of prices to-day and at the December sales were as follows: — i Merino, 9d to lOd (!)d to lOd); halfbred super 13Jd to 14? d (113 d to l'3}d); half-bred medium, llid to 12id (lOd to llJd). Southdown, 13Jd to 14|d'; crossbred, 13d to 133 d (lOfd to 12} d); crossbred medium, 12£ d to 13d (9:3 d to llid); crossbred coarse, 11 Jd to 12-fd (!)}d to lOJd); crossbred inferior, BJd to 10:jd (7Jd to Did); crossbred P. and 8., 7Jd to 103 d (6Jd to Md); half-bred, 7Jd to 101 d (7d to 9d); stained P. and L. 3Jd to 53d (3Jd to 5 Jd).
