HEARING THE PETITIONS. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Wellington, January 26. The Registrar of the Supreme Court at Wellington has received a petition by Nau Paraone Kawiti, boarding-house-keeper of Whangarci, and Maera Kuao, settler, of Tautoro, Kaikohe, against the return of Tau Henare as J member for the Northern Maori seat. IA number of irregularities in connection •\yjtVi voting papers arc alleged. The petition has been forwarded to the Chief Justice at Christchurch to fix a date for hearing, and appoint judges. , The Chief Justice and ' Judge Edwards will commence the hearing of the Mwke's Bay petition at the Napier Supreme €ourt on February 22, and Justices Cooper and Chapman will hear the Taumarunui petition st-t a time and place to be fixed.
DUNEDIN CENTRA!^. Ouuedin, Last Night. Both candidates for the Dunedin Central seat, Messrs Statham and Munro, have addressed meetings and received a good and encouraging hearing. Great interest is being taken in the contest.
