One of tin l troopers on board a transport bound for Egypt writes to a friend in Wellington as follows:—A man who swallows a yarn on board ship, however circumstantial it may appear, is looked upon an a good "bite." They had one unfortunate chasing round to-day. This "bite ' was sent to the "chips" for some striped _ paint. When "chips" dropped to the idea, lie sent the inquirer to the "skipper," who sent him on to the clergyman. The "bite" started then to think things, and did not persevere with his search. The farrier staff-sergeant was very much surprised when his assistant went off quite cheerfully to get from the "vet" some "tooth picks" for horses. The vet. sent him to the 0.C., who told the "bite" to come back tomorrow." Which he did. The same "bite" went ii]) quite seriously to the sergeantmajor for some "Horse good conduct 'sheets." He did not quite, understand tin; necessity for such a form of request. but thought it was usual. The P.M. gasped, but sent him alon" to the regimental orderly-sergeant, who "had run out of stock." It was some days before the "bite" dropped to the joke. IS UNEQUALLED: Everyone should keep a reliable remedy in the home for immediate use in case of bowel trouble. Chamberlain's Colic and Diarrhoea remedy is unequalled for this complaint. If given at the first unusual looseness of the bowels, the attack may be avoided. Even in the most severe and dangerous cases it has -never been known to fail. All chemists and stores.
