EAST END BEACH.
1 MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. A largely attended meeting of the East End Committee was held at the East End Pavilion last night, about 25 persons being present. Officers were elected as follows:—Mr W. Roch, secretary (vice Mr J'letch-r, resigned), Mr P J. Flanagan, assistant secretary, Mr F. T. Bellringer, treasurer, Mr S. Brooks, custodian. j
It was decided to provide new wire rope for the swings, and to fix permanent electric lights in both ladies' and gents' dressing rooms for the convenience of evening bathing. It was stated that plans for the enlargement of the Pavilion were now in course of preparation by the architect. the committee resolved to hold an illuminated fete on the Henui river on the! evening of 18th February following the lines of a recent Napier fete. The Pavilion is to be made available tor all school picnics, if required, on payment of a fee. Members remarked that the beach was thronged with picnic parties arid bathers every day, and that the regular supply of hot water was greatly appreciated.
