In the course of his reply to the deputation from the Provincial Press Association of Australia, asking for a reduction in the duties on printing paper and linotypes, Mr, Tudor, in promising eojeidcration, said, regarding linotypes, in effect that the Ministry was asked to give work to Americans, who would not lift their little finger in the present life-and-dcaili struggle. THE EXPORT OF HIDES. Melbourne, January 23. A deputation of master tanners pointed out to the Minister of Customs that since the war there had been a great increase in the exportation of hides to unallied countries. Apart from the requirements of the Defence Department, they urged that unless export Is restricted there would soon be a local shortage. Mr. Tuder is considering the nutter. PRICE OF MEAT REDUCED.
