Kirlcby, accompanied by Miss: Nina Capel, left on Wednesday for a short holiday in Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. G. Millar have returned to New Plymouth after spending their honeymoon in Auckland. Miss G, Shaw intends going for a short holiday to Opunake and Hawera.

Mrs. Claude Weston left last Monday to spend a fortnight at the Mountain House.

Miss C. Aitkinson, who lias been on a visit to New Plymouth, has now returned to Feilding.

Mrs. J. McAllister, of Stratford, is spending several weeks at the seaside.

Mrs Paul entertained the auction bridge club at her house on Wednesday night.

Archdeacon and Mrs. Evans gave a small afternoon tea on. Thursday for Mr and Mrs Peter Dawson and party.

At I'atea on Tuesday (the Press reports) a large number of ladies met to bid farewell to Mrs. 11. E. P. Adams, who is leaving the district after what is practically a lifelong residence in its midst. Tiie Rev. A. W. Payne, who was present, in the course of a' brief speech, referred to the deep regret felt by all at Mrs. Adams' departure. On behalf of her many friends in the town and district, he asked Mrs. Adams' acceptance of a ladies' handbag containing a purse of sovereigns to enable her to purchase some more lasting memento of the deep regard they, one and all, felt for her. He wished her God spend and every happiness in her new home. Mrs. Adams, who was visibly affected and complete;/ taken by surprise, thanked Mr. Payne for his kind remarks and the donors for their handsome gifts.
