NINE MONTHS' FIGURES. STATEMENT BY MINISTER FOR FINANCE. Dunedin, January 20. The Hon. Jas. Regarding the decrease in land tax the Minister stated: —"The decrease is only apparent. It is due to the fact that a sum of £112,600, land tax money which ought to have been received in December, but owing to certain assessments being late and owing to some adjustments was not paid until the beginning of January. If that sum had been received, the land tax would have been over £60,000 more than last year. The money is now to hand."
