CHEMISTS' TRADING HOURS.
AN ANOMALY. BREACH OF SHOPS ACT. By Telegraph.—Per Tress Association. Christc-hurch, Yesterday. Mr T. A. Bailey, S.M.,' gave judgment to-day in the case in which Barnett and Co. chemists, were charged with failing to close according to the Shops and Offices Act. He held that there was 110 provision for the sale of medicine or surgical appliances, even when urgently required, outside gazetted hours. He said the position seemed to be serious for chemists, and either a fresh regulation should be made or the Act amend-' ed. He inflicted a nominal fine of ss, without costs.
