HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. Wellington, Yesterday. The High Commissioner reports under date London, January 10, 5.5:5 p.m.:— "Paris reports that at Arras the Allies' artillery repeatedly silenced the enemy's batteries amidst snow. There was a very lively action at La Boisel'e, vhere at, a result of conflagrations the Allies were obliged on the nights of the 17th and 18th to evacuate positions. At daybreak they were retaken and the enemy's attacks were not renewed. North-west of Pont-a-Mousson the Allies carried another earthwork in La Pretre wood, where 500 metres were gained. Snowstorms are general." THE RUSSIAN OPERATIONS. The Premier has received the following from the High Commissioner:— London, Jan. 20, 5.25 a.m. Petrograd reports that pursuit of the Turkish army continues, and they are being driven out of the trans-Chorok region. Heavy Turkish losses are reported. A further movement on the Lower Vistula continues successfully. Important encounters have occurred at Konopienice and Vezhuni. A German battery, attempting to shell the Russians, was silenced.
