PERSONAL.
Mr J. K. Law, of Wanganui, is on a visit to New Plymouth. Mr H. J. Okey, M.P. for Taranaki, returned to New Plymouth last night by the mail train from Wellington. Constable Flanagan has left Mokau on transfer to Rawene, Constable McGregor, of Oamaru, being transferred to Mokau. The deatli is announced from Auckland of Mrs George Tatton, aged 71 years. Mrs Tatton was a very old settler of this district prior to removing to Auckland some time ago.
Mr W 11. Hawkins, of Tataraimakn, formerly an officer in the volunteer force, wiio was a candidate in tihe recent Stratford election, has volunteered for active sejvice with the New Zealand expeditionary forces at the front. Mr L. A. Hammond, who has for the past- five or six years been associated with the Taranaki Herald as foreman of the job printing department, was presented by the members of the staff yesterday with a silver cake-stand and butter-disli in honour of his approaching marriage.
Mr James Bruce, who was for many years a partner in the firm of Honnor and Clark, and who is well-known in Dominion draught circles, left yesterday for Wellington, whence he goes to America on business. Mr Bruce is one of the seven legatees of about a hundred thousand acres of land in Florida, U.S.A., estimated to be wortth in all some £BOO,OOO.
