PITCHED BATTLE FOUUHT IN 'ITIE STREETS. GERMANS lIANG AUSTRIAN COMMANDER. A report from Lcmberg (Galicia), dated November 27, says the sound of firing which was said to be the result of a clash between the Germans and Austrians composing the garrison of Przeiuvsl was reported by refugees arriving here to-day from the vicinity of the Austrian fortress. The sound cariie from fortifications on tile interior line, <ind was audible two miles. It was further reported that the Germans had hanged the commander of the fortress because- he proposed to surrender the citadel. The /Austrian* are said to have opposed til.; measures put into effect by the Germans, which resulted in a pitched battle m th£. streets. Wounded Austrian* returning from the < iirpathians and from the south of Lemberg report that the Austrian* are retreating in utter defeat. Their losses are said to have been heavy, and to have included <>ooo prisoners and all the suopbes. Towards Cracow the retreat 'is said to have been made in better order.
