A lengthy discussion took place 'over t.he plans for the new Girls' 'High School, the Board's architect (Mr. Messenger) submitting three >ketch plans. A committee, consisting of Messrs. Doekrill. Ewittg. Fraser. anil Hntchen. was appointed to consult with Mr. Messenger over the matter, and to ol'tain csf.'matcs. On tli ' ri'commcndation of Miss Hodges, the new headmistress, Mhs Svdev. was appointed matron at the Girls'' School. The election of a chairman for th" ensuing year came before the Board. "Members were in favor of holding over the matter until the Government •should appoint the two new members. The secretary, however, stated that the Board, according to its constitution, was eniler the nccessitv of selecting its (liainnan before the present month expired. Dr. Eookes was thereupon proposed by the retiring chairman. Imt declined to take up the onerous duties of the position, owing to lack of the necessary time which would be demanded if such a position were to he properlv filled.
