Under the heading of "Shark Culture," appeared the following article in tht Hamburger Fremdenblatt, illustrated war chronicle, under date, October 15 1914. A short reference to this was , previously copied by a New York newspaper, but the following also contains the comment of the editor of the German paper. The article reads as follows: .—"lhc following report from an English source testifies to their high standard of culture:.,' Copenhagen, October 8. 'According to the report of the Nat Tidende, from London, the steamer Delphic, of the White Star Line, which has arrived from Auckland, reports that 5000 Germans resident in New Zealand had been made prisoners of war, and are being detained upon an island; their gaolers are the sharks, with which the surrounding waters abound." The article continues: "Wo shrug our shoulders' The words of Sir Edward Gosehcn during his farewell talk with the Chancellor come to mind, 'England is acting upon moral, and Germany upon strategical principles.' We had better ask the sharks. They would agree with Sir Edward. But how would it be if we considered the picture furnished us by this notice as symbolical? Does not Germany resomblo an island? Is she not surrounded by ugly greedy sharks? Is not England the greatest of those sharks?" THE HEALTHY MAN WINS. j "While following my avocation as a nurse for a long time I have been suffering, with Kidney Complaint in its worst form, with all its usual painful symptoms." mites Mrs. B.
