On Tuesday 12th inst., we hold our I first sale after tin; holidays in our Stratford Yards, when there was a medium yarding of 335 head of eattle and 101 sheep, most of which were cleared at a slight advance in prices. Fat and forward cows sold well at from C 7 10s to £8; good cows from £8 to £7 8*: ' medium and small, 90s to 117s; eows and calves, £4 ltis to £(i 14s; liS-months and 2-year old heifers, £2 15s to C.5 ];->«; 2 to 2!-year old empty heifers. 100s to Ills; yearling heifers, KAY.!!. 525; small, 2fw to 425; springing heifers, 2-year old, £4 7s (id to £4 15s; springing cows. £7 18s. Steers were in good demand; 18-nionths steers realised £3 5s (id to £3 12s: 2-year old, AOs;' 21-year old £5 2s; 2.1 to 3-year old, £(> 4s to .€7 15s; bulls, light £f> 15s; medium. £8 ss; heifers, £!). .Several lines of weaners were yarded, hut the quality was not very good and there was practically no demand. Most of the. sheep were passed in as owners' ideas of values were above these of purchasers. On Wednesday,. 13th inst., we held our usual monthly wool, hide and .sheepskin sale. AVe had a fair catalogue of IS2 packages of wool and 281 hides and sheepskins, all farmers' lines There was a good attendance of buyers, bidding was brisk and most of the lines realised good market values. The whole catalogue was disposed of with the exception of 15 packages of wool, which were, held over for various reasons. Rome lines were reserved, but in most cases owners accepted tho passed in bids, though, in some cases, slight advances were obtained. Ocnerally .speaking the wool offered was heavy in grease, seedy and charcoal stained, weak and .wasly as compared with wools offered at previous sales.
