ALLIES YIELD GROUND. The High Commissioner reports under date London, January 14, 8.35 p.m.:— Paris reports that the Belgians ex ploded Stuvvenskerke farm, used by the enemy as an ammunition depot. North of Soissons there was heavy fighting all day on two hills north-east and north-west of Crouy, the Allies holding the first slopes. Counter-attacks on the left slightly progressed without appreciable advance. In the centre the position was maintained, despite repeated e(Torts of the enemy, but east of Vregnv we yielded ground. The rise of the Aisne destroying bridges rendered the Allies' communications precarious, therefore new positions were established south cC the nut.
