RUSSIANS MAKE PROGRESS,
GERMAN'S BRING UP HEAVY ARTILLERY. CONSIDERABLE REINFORCEMENTS. Received 16, 12.50 a.m. Petrograd, January 15. A communique say!?: We made considerable progress in the last twentyfour -hours along the right bank of the Vistula and occupied Serpiec. Operations were unimportant elsewhere. A Vienna, communique states that the enemy's attacks along tile front on the Xida failed. Quiet reigned elsewhere. Received 1G 1 a.m. Petrograd, January 15. The Germans have begun a bombardment of the whole of the Russian front with 11-inch ami other guns, maxims, and rifles. Russian communiques imply that the Germans have been considerably reinforced northward of the Vistula. The Russians are now carrying out a countermove in East Prussia'capturing a series of villages eastwards from Rosog. There are indications that a German fortcss at Boyen, guarding the Mazurian Lakes ha- been burned.
