MANAIA. The Opunake bowlers tried conclusions with the Manaia club on Wednesday last at Manaia, for possession of the Fox Shield and the Taranaki District Banner. Four rinks competed, victory ultimately resting with Opunake by 10 points. J)e Forges' rink played a fine game for the visitors, and so also did that skipped by Burton. McDonald's team did excellent work for Manaia, and some really first class play was shown in the rink skipped by Armitage. A nice spread was provided by the ladies, the tables being presided over by Mesdames Dixon and Hill. At the conclusion of the game, Mr Dudley thanked the Manaia club for its hospitality and Mr W. J. I NORMAN BY. j It is with regret that we have to (■ announce the death of Winifred Rose, (wife of Mr Thos. Lloyd, Jnr., which oc- ' ciirred here last week. ; The deceased,- who was only 34 years of age, was the youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs L. Drager, of Woodville. Quite a gloom was east over Normanbv by the sad event, as the deceased was greatly respected by all who knew her, and sincere sympathy is felt for the diusband and little fa'inily of four who Ure left to mourn their loss. The funeral took place at the Waihi Cemetery, a large number of friends and relations following the remains to their last resting place. Tiie Rev. Dean Power, of Hawera, officiated at the graveside.
