ANOTHER SCOURGE REMOVED. KARLSRUHE REPORTED SUNK. ENGAGEMENT IN THE WEST INDIES. Ottawa, January 12. Private advices, unconfirmed, state that the German cruiser Karlsruhe was sunk in a light with the British off the island of Grenada, in the West Indies. A lifebuoy, marked "Karlsruhe" was found on the shore with much wreckage. The residents of Grenada report witnessing the battle which was waged at a great distance. [The Karlsruhe was an armoured cruiser of 4820 tons and was designed to steam 20 knots. She was armed with 12 4.1-in. quiekfirers and two machine guns and was completed in 1913.]
