Mr John St H. Lander, brother of Mr W. H. Lander, of Stratford, one of tie most noted portrait pafnters in England, has for several months past been supplying portraits of noted personages for reproduction on the front page of the London Graphic. Amongst recent portraits were those of General Sir John French, Commander-in-Chief at the front; General Chetwode, D.5.0., tin fine cavalry leader who distinguished himself in the fierce fighting at Mods; (u'licral Sir IT, L. Sinith-Dorrieu, another cavalry officer of distinction; General Sir Douglas I lay, and General Sir Charles W. H. Douglas, who was appointed as Chief of Military Staff in the place of Sir John and win qeccfetlly died in England; also a fine portrait of Lord Kitchener, from the painting of another artist (Angelo)'. Thesr sis have heen framed, and are attracting m\ich attention at Grubb's muafc warehouse in Stratford.
