Yesterday's demonstration on the occasion of tlu; departure of troops for Trentham had a .stimulating effect on recruiting. Within a few hours of the departure of the train, twenty men reportal themselves at the Defence Office and asked to he enrolled for Samoa. There is an appreciable advance in the number of men enrolling in the infantry. AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER. VISITS TRENTHAM CAMP. Wellington, Yesterday. The Right Hon. Mr Fisher, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth, to-day paid a visit to the military camp at Trentham and seemed pleased with the arrangements and (he work he saw being carried out there. The men were nil hard at work, some twenty squads jiejng drilled when Mr Fisher arrived. .1 here was no form-i] ceremony, and the work was not in any way interrupted., FOOD PRICES.
