OYEU THE I'AXAMA F.XI'OSITIOX. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright. Melbourne, January 11. The dispute between the Tlon. A. Deakin and the Minister for External i.\ffaiis (the Hon. Mr Mali oil), continues. Tile bitter states that Ml' Kcilsen, an ollii'cr in the Xew South Wales Covernliii'iit, resident in San Francisco, warned Mr Deakin in August that owing to the war, the Panama Exposition would be shorn of its international character. He advised the complete withdrawal of Australia. The Minister further states that in tin l ollicial memorandum submitted by Mr Deakin on September :21 • there was no mention of Mr Xeilson's j advice. It was on this memorandum that Mr Mahon induced Cabinet to approve of Australia's representation at the Exposition on 'a modified scale. When it was discovered On December 24 that Mv Noilsen's advice was suppressed, Mr Malion wrote to Mr Deakin for an explanation and advised the latter to defer preparations until his departure. Mr Deakin replied that Mr Xeilsen's advice was set aside by the Federal and i State 'Commission. The Hon. A. Dea- ' 'kin on January 7 w rote to Mr Malum with reference to the hitter's accusation that Mr .Xeilsen's letter was suppressed, savin'.' that Mr Malion was never in close touch with the commission. If lie hail been much .antagonism would have been avoided. 'Mr Million replied that he hud acted in the same manner as bis predecessor.
