To tlio Editor, Kir,—l notice in several papers that the. Commonwealth Prime Minister has been tendered receptions lit Auckland, Wellington, and Waiiguniii. Jiov is it that an elfort has not been made to have the same (lone here in Xew Plymouth? What are our M.l'.'s doing? Are they asleep? We Taninuki-ites, too, could show our distinguished visitor more cheese, butter, milk, and grass from a given area than he ever saw in his life. We can also show him as good scenery as anything in this Dominion, the most up-to-date dairy factories in Australasia, the loveliest of permanent running streams, stocked with trout, the richest oil in sight starving for the want of ¥tato control, the ingredients for steel and p"'e iron lying waste 011 our shores, and the. nearest harbor to Sydney. Yet in spite of all these magnificent assets and educational factors, Taranaki's capital town, Now Plymouth, takes its gruel in the same old way. Ah, me!—what a line tiling Toryism is for Taranaki ill general, and New Plymouth, in particular, and the humor of it is that there are those who bewail Xew Plymouth slow-going ways.
