The military authorities have accepted the oll'er of the Rifle Association to conduct musketry instruction for the expeditionary force. The Commission open an inquiry into the price of meat on the 18th. Mr. Sharp, Federal member for Oxley, Queensland, declares that the high prices are due to the operations of the Meat Trust in Queensland and insists that only Federal action is capable of dealing with the matter. Melbourne, January 9. The Victoria Racing Club has voted a further sum to uie war fund. This brings the total given to £5117.
