WAITARA HARBOUR BOARD.

VmNTin-Y MKi-VHlw. (Frum Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of tin! above Board was held on Friday evening. Present: Messrs .T. Hine (chairman), W. F. Jenkins, R. T. Hicks, H. E. Vaughan, A. The members considered the price too high, especially as the Board had more important works ill view. Messrs Hatriek and Co. wrote protesting against their siding being blocked on the wharf by timber being discharged from the s.s. Wetere and forwarding a claim of 7s, being amount incurred through the siding bring blocked. The Board declined to accept any liability. Mr jlowarth. engineer, appointed to report on the Waitara river, forwarded his report. The chairman slid that it would be advisable for the report to be held over ><i that the members would have an opportunity of considering it. The Board decided to adopt the. chair, man's suggestion. The ehainnan said that the foreman had waited on him asking for a rise of salary. Alter discussion the Board decided r.nt to grant any further increase. Messrs Anns and Turner, on behalf vf the Seaside Improvement (society, waited oil the Board and asked for control of a portion of the beach. The matter was held over until next meeting, the members expressing themselves ill sympathy with the society. Mr W. F. Richards wrote complaining i of damage done to a earl left in the Board's charge for shipment through lieinir thrown over the wharf on election night. The matter was referred back for further details. Account" amounting to C!>4 !)s 3d was pas-ed for payment.
