GEIiMAN PROPAGANDISTS AT WORK. Ru'eiveil D, 1.30 a.m. London, January 8. The Times' Washington correspondent states that German propagandists are intriguing to get Congress to forbid the export of war supplies to the Allies, and get the Government to purchase interned steamers. Above all, they are seeking to create Anglo-American tension over .problems confronting the two nations.
THE CONTRABAND QUESTION. AN AGGREGATE ARRIVED AT. Heceived 8. 10.35 p.m. Washington, January S. Sir C. A. Spring-Rice has notified Mr Bryan of the partial settlement cf the questions of contraband arising out of the American Note. An agreement led now been completed for the shipment without molestation of naval stores from the United States to the Netherlands and Italy, and arrangements were pending whereby shipments of copper would be similarly treated. COUNT BERNSTOFF BOWLED OUT. CHARGES AGAINST AMERICANS NOT SUBSTANTIATED. Washington, January 7. Mr Bryan, replying to the allegations made by Count Bernstorff as to the supply of dumdum bullets, said that the United States must refrain from initially :uv. stjgating such charges, which were iuensistent with strict SUMtrality Mr Bryan, however, deals with ihs charges serial urn. producing a sig'j'vl statement from every American firm Count BeviiFtorff mentioned in laying the charges. The United States, therefore, requests further evidence, aB that submitted proves nothing.
