The Jetty Company's wharf, which lias been watched daily by a gentlcmafl 'troni N T ew Plymouth in the interests of Mr. Cave, who lately was successful against the company in obtaining dnniAges, wasup Toi* sale by public auction by ite New Zealand and Mercantile Ageney Company on Monday, and realised £250, Mr. Cave being the purchaser. Mr. Cave is now the "boss" of our wharf, and it will be interesting to see how things will progress, in view of the fact that the Jetty Company's license has only one year to run. Where the Harbor Board comes in, and the shippers and importers' interests come in, future events may reveal. At the Town Board meeting on Monday evening Messrs. Mullon, Sorrensen, anil Ross were the only members present. Mr. Mullon was appointed chairman for the meeting. Leave of absence was granted Mr. Dudley. The foreman was instructed to procure 100 yards of stone for maintenance works. Wednesday was fixed as the statutory half-holiday, and the fees for registration of dogs was fixed at 2s 6d, cattle dogs; and 10a <kl, sporting dogs. The clerk was granted an increase of £l2 per annum in his salary. At the Domain Board meeting the foreman reported that a new lock on the pavilion bad been broken, and it was decided to offer a reward of £5 for Information leading to the identity of the offender. The foreman reported at both Boards on routine work, such as cleaning out ditches and cleaning weeds from footpaths. It was decided that action be taken against offenders for dumping rubbish near the city boundary.
