OBITUARY.
MR. H. B. CURTIS.
By the death of Mr H. B. Curtis 011 Sunday, Inglewood lost its first and most ju'omineift settler. Born at Omata in 1552 lie led a most active, useful and successful life, and on the outbreak of Hie second trouble with the Natives be became a volunteer, subsequently receiving a commission as Lieutenant. He saw Inglewood in its primitive stage, and assisted in its development into a borough, eventually occupying the Mayor's chair for three consecutive years a record tenure so far in the borough's history. As a member of the firm.of Curtis Brothers ho took an active part in the business life of the town some years ago, but eventually took to farming anel became a considerable holder of land which to-day should be worth a iav SC sum. Latterly Mr Curtis took life
v.oro easily, and though he had been univcll for a few days no anxiety was felt, so that his death eame as a groat blow -to his family and friends. He leaves a widow, two sons and eight daughters, for all of whom the deepest sympathy will bo felt. The. funeral takes place at Inglewood to-day at 2.30 p.m.
