Early in December Mr. A. C. Morton, a theep-farmer of the Hunterville district, interviewed the Gear Meat Company, and the. management promised to slaughter, wrap, and place on board ship any sheep sent to the company during December in aid of the Belgians, free of charge. Mr. Morton called a meeting of farmers at Hunterville, and a committee was formed to canvass, with the result that 800 fat sheep have been sent to the Gear works. As railway freight will be refunded, and the Prime Minister has promised that the Government will pay the shipping freight, these sheep will land at Home free of all charges. They are not to be sold at Home, but will be sent on to Belgium for distribution,
