A CORRECTION.

To the Editor, Sir, —Kindly allow ine apace to correct a couple of statements made by Mr Jennings in your issue of the 21st inst. In the first place, my property is situated in the Clifton County, and not in the Awakino County. In the second place, I have paid the Clifton Council the sum due for rates ever since I. | have had my property, and I believe that for at least twenty years mine has been one of the first, if not the very first cheque, in payment of rates to reach the County office annually. So far from being concerned in the "determined attempt to frustrate the bringing into operation of the provisions of the local Bodies Act, ill the Awakino district. I was one of the leaders of the movement which resulted in the provisions of that Act being made use of and a County Council elected.—l am, etc., WALTER W. JOXES. Mokau, December '2B, 1014.
