A later message states that Maritz, on December 22nd, with four field-guns an;' four Maxims, forced Loyalists, after a vigorous resistance, to retire a few miles. A running fight followed, but the rebels' attempt to outflank the Loyalists was frustrated. The rebels at sundown retired to Schuitdrift.
