At St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, New Plymouth, the services will be conducted to-morrow by Mr. D. N. MacDiarmid, 8.A., the Australasian Organising Secretary for the Soudan United Mission. A correspondent signing himself "Briton" writes to the Wellington Post urging that 75 per cent, of tho profits of racing clubs should be devoted to the Defence Fund and that £20,000 of the amount should be divided up into stakes to be competed for by cavalry regimentfl and hunt clubs, and another £20.000 allocated as prizes for shooting, miltary sports, etc. He urges that with such encouragement a great stimulus would be given t'o the breeding of military remounts and to rifle shooting and the Defence movement generally. He also suggests that the money could be devoted towards providing cheaper ammunition and ''ailway /ares for shootists.
