NEW; ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. FOURTH ROUND. B 4 - Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Christehureli, Last Night. The following matches were played in the Chess Congress, fourth round, today:— Buckett v. Barnes (Falkbeer Counter Gambit).—Adjourned. Pawns are equal l , Barnes having a knight and a bishop against two knights. Kelling v. E. C. Fox (Max A very open game. Fox lost a queen for a rook on move 35, and resigned. Crierson v. Mara (PetrofT Defence).— Mara lost a knight on the 24th move, and surrendered forthwith.
Dodds v. Pleasants (Ginoeo Piano).— Dodds won a piece on the 18th move. Pleasants .continued on to move 31, wheu he resigned. Hicks v. Moore (Ginoeo Piano).— Moore lost a queen for a rook and a knight, and resigned at move 21, mat? being threatened. Sovcrne v. B. G. Fox.—Severne scored by default. , •■ Hill a bye, " ' IJt -
