Hugo crowds flocked 1° the city and all the retailers report excellent business. Fair weather prevailed in Wellington for Christmas Eve, and the streets were thronged by the usual crowds of holidaymakers anil shoppers. Trade generally appeared fairly brisk, despite the 'demands made on people's pockets in so many ways as a result of the war. The Christmas of 1014 in Wellington may be labelled as a good one.
