BRITISH AND BELGIAN FUND. Wellington, December 24. His Excellency, as patron of the Poor of Great Britain, Ireland and Belgium Relief Fund, reports that he lias to.day transmitted by cable to the High Com- . missioner, London, the sum of £14,200, as the third cash contribution from the fund. The amount comprises a second instalment from Canterbury, including lAshburton and South Canterbury, £lO,000, and a third contribution from the committees of the Wellington and Marl-" ; borough provincial district!) of £IOOO, ] and the sum of £3200, being the amount -' subscribed to the One-shilling Belgian ; Christmas Gift Fund, instituted by the 1 Wellington Sports Committee. The I special instructions, of each committee and the wishes of those giving donations for a special purpose have all been observed, and the sum will be apportioned. as follows: £5527 for the poor of Great Britain and Ireland, to be handed to the executive of the Prince of Wales Fund for administration; £8073 for Belgian relief, to be given to the proper authori. ties at Home for distribution. (The total cash contributions now sent ' forward in connection with the fund 1 amount to £40,200. Vesy valuable shipments of food and clothing have also been sent. Contributions of cash, stock and produce are still being made, and will be transmitted as occasion arises.
