FOUND DROWNED. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Greymouth, Last Night. William Currie, a carpenter, aged 00 years, single, was found drowned in a ditch: at Kunanga on Christmas morning. Deoeased had been in town with a friend on Christmas Eve, and they returned together. The companion left deceased, who was not seen after. A verdict of found drowned, was recorded.

CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS POSTPONED. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, December 24. British and (American committees exchanged greetings on the occasion of the Peace Centenary. They suggest that the celebration be renewed at the end of the war.

The Times, in a leader, says the mam- j festo bears witness to the universal sori row with which the English-speaking j race- forego the celebrations planned for to-day. Not until the swords are sheathed can public rejoicings mark their pride and thankfulness at the memorable triumph of peace and goodwill. The German Press is exultant at Grand-Admiral Von Tirpitz's boast that he will blockade the coast of Britain, and destrov her merchantmen by submarines. All agree that it furnishes a ( policy whereby England's starvation of I Germany will'be countered.
