Wellington, December 23. The High Commissioner reports, under elate London. December 22, 5.55 p.m.: Paris reports that a German attack was repulsed at Carency. At Lihons three attacks were repulsed. Our artillery was efficacious on the plateau of Nouvron. There have been violent bayonet combats at Souain, where we made considerable progress. Fifteen hundred metres of earthworks on the frontage v,ere carried. At Perthes-les-llurles two-thirds of the ground previously lost was recovered. At St. Hubert, in the neighbourhood of Yanquois, barbed entanglements were crossed and the enemy's trendies captured.
