A Berlin source announces that the Germans have evacuated Lodz, fearing ail enveloping movement in consequence of the Russians penetrating into Eastern Prussia. Rome. December 21. The Messagero's Petrograd correspondent confirms the report of the complete ; defeat of the Germans northward of the ■ Vistula, and that they have been driven ! back into East Prussia. * Petrograd, December 21. I A communique states that the Ger- I mans in the Mlava region retired to the Lautenburg-Neidenburg line (East Prussia). There was no material incident on { the left of the Vistula. The Austrian [ offensive in Galieia has been definitely checked, and the Russian subsequent operations have been perfectly favour- | able. Hie Austrians left five hundred 1 dead after a Russian bayonet attack in the Dukla region. Over a thousand Austrians were tanen prisoners. j LATEST GERMAN REPORTS, i "OUR ATTACKS CONTINUE." Received 23, 12.25 a.m. Paris, December 22. A Berlin official message says:—"The situation in Prussia is unchanged. Our attacks in Poland continue."
