A Berlin source announces that the Germans have evacuated Lodz, fearing ail enveloping movement in consequence of the Russians penetrating into Eastern Prussia. Rome. December 21. The Messagero's Petrograd correspondent confirms the report of the complete ; defeat of the Germans northward of the ■ Vistula, and that they have been driven ! back into East Prussia. * Petrograd, December 21. The Austrian [ offensive in Galieia has been definitely checked, and the Russian subsequent operations have been perfectly favour- | able.
