In the dairy yards I had a very small entry, for which the enquiry was very slack, only a few head being sold at from £3 17s (Id to CI 10s, and dairy cows at £7. 1, had an entry of about 750 head of store cattle and "">0 sheep. The latter met with a fair bidding, but . vendors' reserves were in every instance . much above buyers' limits. LOAN & MERCANTILE CO.'S REPORT. The New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Stratford branch) report as follows: On Tuesday, 15th inst., we held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards, when there was a small yarding of lti!) head, largely composed of store cows, and 384 sheep. The demand was fairly good, aiul most lines were, cleared at the hammer and afterwards at satisfactory prices:—Empty cows (small) fifis to 71s, medium Sis to !>7s Gd; fair cows, showing youth, 101s to Ills; good stores, £5 15s to £G 15s; fat cows, medium weights, £7 to £7 10s, heavier weights £7 lis to £3 lis; cows and calves (small) £3 12s fid to £3 15s, fair £4 12s fid to £5 10s; 15-months steers, from £2 15s to £3 ss; yearling steers, [ small, £2 7s to £2 12s, 15-months heifers, small, 3(is to 41s (id; incidum, 45s to 50s Gd; I'B-months to 2_year-old heifers, up to £3 5s and £3 12s; springing heifers, £5 7s (id: cows, £5 17s Gd; bulls, fair yarding, small £5 10s, medium ; £7, heavier £S 7s fid to £S 12s Gd. i On Tuesday we also held our usual monthly wool, sheepskin and hide sale, • when we had a fair catalogue of 21(1 bales of wool, and 3(50 sheepskins, bides, i etc. A considerable number of the lines of wool were of a dingy and heavy na- ' ture, and owing to the drop in prices at > the Wellington sale on the lltli inst, • and to a further report from London 1 that prices were goncrall yeasier, prices offered here showed a drop of '/Id to y,d per lb for most lines, and as owners' ' reserves, in a great many cases, were ' considerably higher than market values, a good many lines were passed in, some of which were sold after the. sale at an advance of y 4 d per lb. The following : prices were reailsed: —f'rutchings, fid; pieces, from 4'V|d to ii'/Ul; fleece, B%d to to !)'/«d for good lines; heavy and cotted bush wool S'/.d to S£d; fairly bright wool, free from seed, 0d to o'/,d. Most of the passcd-in lines are being shipped to London. Most of the sheepskins offered were on account of farmers, and in sympathy with the reduction in values of wool, prices for sheepskins showed a reduction also, but all lines were cleared at full market values: —Small and damaged sold at Is to 2se each, fair wool and pelts 5s 3d to 8s 2d, dead skins up to 3s Od, salted 2s Id; a nice line of skins on account of a TTawera client averaged fis 5(1 each. Tallow, in tins, 18s per cwt. Cowhides, very light, 17s fid each, slipv 20s 7d, medium quality hut light -m, fair weights 32s 7d, calfskins, small lß>od quality) 4s Gd, heavier 5s Od to fis, feshy ss, cut 3s 3d to 3s ild, dry Is 3d to 2s (id each, damaged Is to Is Gd. ■

At this sale we also offered on behalf of Mr. V. TT.
