TRAMWAYS.
To the Editor, Sir,—Will )ou kindly publish in full the letter from the Town Clerk read at the last Borough Council meeting in reference to the iilwve. I notice in your issue of the lath inst. a brief re; ferenee to this letter which is liable to mislead, owing to the fact that a very important' part of it had not been published, 'Jlie portion omitted is extremely important to ratepayers, and residents of the west end.—l am, etc., J. T. MANNIX, The following is the portion of the report referred to:— In looking over the tramway plans, 1 noticed that certain ttreet work has to be undertaken and completed before the tramway contractor commences work. Part of this is 011 the Breakwater road and part at the intersection of Devon street and Morley street. The Borough Engineer should be authorised to proceed with this work at once if possible. In view of I,he fact that it is now certain that tile tramway loans will not be sufficient to complete the whole scheme, I think the Council should consider the advisability of instructing the contractors to leave the section in Devon street west, from Egiuont. sivect to Morley street, until after all the other work is completed.
