The Taranaki Jockey Club is confidently looking forward to the forthcoming Christmas meeting being a record one, a*d certainly appearances point that way. There should be a record attendance. Almost every available room in town is already booked, whilst the train arrangements have been made as con. venicnt as possible to suit everyone. The course itself has never looked better, and will undoubtedly become a popular pleasure resort, where people will combine picnicking with the excitement of tho raco meeting. The appointments, too, are all in keeping, as tho Jockey Club committee is fully alive to tho importance of adequately catering for the publie. Tho acceptances are good, and, what is more to the point, it is probable that the majority of the horses accepted will face the starter. THE STRATFORD MEETING. The Stratford Racing Club holds its annual meeting 011 Friday and Saturday, the Ist and 2nd of January. The increased stakes have attracted horseowners and record entries have been received and splendid fields are sure to lesult.
