MONTHLY MEETING. Tlhi ordinary meeting of tho Moa Ronril Board was held at Inglewood on Saturday, wlkmi there were present Mcsara IT. Trimble (chairman), Jiridgoman, Beauchamp, Capper, Ilopson, Laurence, Shocmark, Smith ami Williams. OVKitSKKIt'S REPORT. The ovrr:;<'i-i- (.Mr W. IJ. Kowan ami Thompson had completed their contract for 201 yards of pit metal and 29 chains had'been 'ecoated in thirteen strips of varying lengths. Fiftythree yards of mcUi) t CovernmoNt grant had been put 011 the Egmont Road south at a cost of 2s per yard, tin; distance of cartage made the cos; greater than otherwise. On tin; John;; Koad a culvert had been renewed. The cartage id' 200 yards of boulders 011 l!» Surrey Koad had been completed. A nine-inch and a twelve-inch culvert ha 3 been put in on this road. A considerable amount of blinding had been done on various roads, wdjich were now in good order. r l ho new ni<-l;i 1 was being put on tin; Mangaotea Road, and would be completed in aMy days. Tile cost of renewing old culvert with concrete pipes and earthwork at tin; junction of the Mangaotea and Tariki Roads wsi .LIS Ms Id, and towards this the Tarrnaki County Council's proportion would be £lO 15s lOd. it was resolved that the cu'Tort on the Norfolk west Road near Mr Coble's be replaced by an IS-inch culvert. The two-foot pipe culvert will bo put 'on the Bedford South road, west of Norfolk west, as recommended by the overseer. The. chairman's ac'.ion in authorising 34 yards extra stone and 50 yards or' earth for tin* Kgmont Koad filling was confirmed, as were also the overseer's action in arranging for tin; supply of 15 yards of boulders on the Norfolk Road west at 2s per yard, and the foreman's action in putting in pipes 011 tho Surrey Road. THE EVERETT KOAD LOAN. Mr 11. B. Unless this were done, hi; coi•idcred that he would be (rented unfairly, as he was already paying two rates on the Bristol Road, and unless some such arrangement could be arrived at, hi; would be, paying four i'ull ratei on the one section. Tin; chairman said that It was not Ihe custom of the, Board to impose h.ilf.ates 011 corner sections. Tt had been done, but only under special circumstances, and each case had been treated on its merits. He recommended Mr Curtis to send a petition to the Board, "be objection should have; been brought forward at the Assessment Court, which recently sat to hear an objection by Sir Curtis relative to the same loan. After a little further discussion ,WV Curtis withdrew. GENERALS. The tender of 11. E. Bennett, at 7* 2d per yard, was accepted lor the supply of metal 011 the Bristol Road. Tho matter of enlarging and straightening the tunnel on (lie Norfolk Ro>d was left ill the hands of the overseer. The overseer was instructed to widen tho Idling on the Ngaio Koad and to rake in and blind the worst places oil the road. The overseer was granted the same holidays at Christmas, as the foremen. Accounts amounting to £234 7s 10J were passed for payment. RATEPAYER'S MKE I'INGS. In the afternoon, meetings of ratepayers were held at the Board's ollice to discuss the question of raising pr>posed loans. Twenty-live ratepayers of the Ratapiko and. Kuimata districts were present in connection with a proposal to raise a loan of £325, so as to claim the subsidy of £2OO, voteil to the Kaimata south road for metalling. A rate of one-tenth of a penny in the £ would be necessary over the proposed area. Messrs Morrison, Young and Smith objected to inclusion on the ground that the proposed metalling would not benefit them in any way, and that they already had several special rates to pay. After some discussion the; Board decided to amend the rating area mi a-, to exclude portions of the property own.; 1 ! I y the object,,rs. Three ratepayers on the Dudley Road attended to discuss the advisability of raising a loan of £7OO to secure the Government subsidy )f £2OO, so as to enable a bridge to In: built over the Ngatoro river in concrete.
