Sir Thomas Sutherland lias resigned the chairmanship of the P. and O. Company. Lord Inchcape succeeds him. — (London cable. A London cablegram announces the death of Major Frederick George, formerly of New Zealand, at Bournemouth, leaving an estate valued at £33,534. The Egmont National Park Board yesterday .passed u- resolution of syuvnat'liy with Mr 11. Stoclcer, the secretary, in his protracted illness, and the hone was expressed that ho would soon be restored to health. Pearce, which occurred audduiily on Wednesday, will be deeply regretted by a large circle of friends. Mrs Pearce' (nee Moss Belle Ford) was for many years a popular teacher on tJie Central School staff, and was married only a few weeks ago.
