To-day the Wanganui team will be called upon for the first time this seasen to defend the Hawkc Cup. South Taranaki, who are the challengers, have a strong team this year, and are confident of putting up a big fight for supremacy. The result of the match will be awaited with interest locally, as North Taranaki have challenged Wanganui for the Cup, the match to take place at a later date. Should the Cup go to Hawera, the match which has been arranged between North and South Taranaki, to eventuate at Hawera on Janu. ary 1 and 2, will probably be made a challenge match. Cricketers should, therefore, keep in practice.
