THE GREY LYNN SEAT. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The official recount of the poll in Grey Lynn is not yet completed, there being still returns from four booths to cheek. At the present stage Mr J. Payne's election is confirmed. It has been discovered that at • one booth 50 votes polled for Mr Murdoch McLean, the Government candidate, were omitted in error from the count. The effect of addition of these and the absent votes cast for him to Mr McLean's total is to give the latter a majority of one vote over the Hon. G. Fowld's, the Liberal candidate, for second position. The two hundred and eight votes of absentees, seamen, and soldiers for the Grey Lynn electorate were distributed as follows: McLean 74, Hon. Geo. Fowlds 40, J. Payne 24, informal (including 58 cast by members of the expeditionary force for the Oppositipn and invalidated because there was 110 official nominee of the Opposition party), 01. Thursday's returns gave Mr Payne a majority of 112. over Hon. Fowlds, but the altered figures have reduced that majority to one of 8(1 over Mr McLean, and the present position is as follows: Payne 2024, McLean 2338, Fowlds 2837; majority for Payne, SI). HAWKE'S BAY UNALTERED. Hastings, Last Night. There were 217 expeditionary and absent voters' papers returned for Hawke's Bay. Of these, 119 went to Dr. McNab, and 98 to Mr. Campbell, reducing the hitter's majority from 217 to 196. ■. I'll eabsentees voted on the licensing issue as follows:—Continuance 141, Nolicense 73. National Continuance 104, National Prohibition 112, THE EASTERN MAORI SEAT. Wellington, Last Night. In the Eastern Miiori election the final result is:— Ngata (Liberal) 4977 Pere (Reform) 2195 NO NEWS OF DOUBTFUL SEATS. Wellington, Last Night. No results are available yet from the Wairarapa or other doubtful seats. DUNEDIN WEST. Dunedin, Last Night. In the Dunedin West electorate, 11 seamen's votes and 217 absent votes have come to hand. They were distributed as follows: Stewart two seamen's votes and 113 absent votes; Johnson, eight seamen's votes and 93 absent; Maguirc, one seaman, and one absent. The final is: Stewart 4038, Johnson 3091, Maguire 95. CANTERBURY SEATS. Christcliurch, a?t Night. The official returns in the Hunimii contest are: Banks 1747, Forbes 3233, informal 40. Christcliurch South: Ell 4500, Whiting 2173, Hughes 1272.
