THE DEFENCE QUESTION. AN INVESTIGATION DEPRECATED. Washington, Deember 13. The House committee refused Representative Gardiner permission to raise, the question of investigating the military and naval defences. All the Democrats sided with President Wilson in deprecating an investigation at present as injudicious. j
