There have been heavy withdrawals of faulty sorts. AUCKLAND. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., reports:— At Westfield yards on Thursday last dairy and store cattle came forward in good numbers, and sold at late rates. Best dairy oows and heifers sold at from £7 to £9 ss; others, £3 10s to £6; calves, 30s to £2 2s; empty cows, £3 to £3 2s Od; bulls, £3 to £O. At Albert yards on Friday horses came forward in full numbers, and sold at late rates. Heavy draught horses sold at from £24 to £2B; medium ditto, £ls to £23 10s; light horses suitable for harness, £8 to £l4; hacks, £3 to £l2 10s; weeds, 10s to 30s. At Westfield yards on Wednesday fat cattle came forward in large numbers, and declined in price on last week's quotations, best oxen selling to 37s fld; others, 34s to 36s per 1001b; cows and > heifers, 30s to 35s per 1001b; steers, £9 : to £lO 12s (id; cows and heifers, £5 to £ll. Two trucks of steers from Mr H. E. Reed, Wairanga, averaged £l4 19s 2d, and two trucks from Mr B. Riid averaged £l4 15s, and 24 steers from Mr Alf Main, Tamahere, averaged £l3 • by the freezing buyers being unable to ■ J operate. Veal calves came forward in very large numbers, and sold at lower rales. Heavy veale'-a, £4 to £5 10a; ; medium weights, £2 10s to £3 18s; : smaller, 25s to £2 ss; others, 10s to 20s; small and fresh dropped, 2s to Bs. The New Zealand Loan arid Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., -Stratford branch, reports as follows:—On Wednesday, the 9th inst., we held our usual monthly sale in our Kohuratahi yards, when we had a yarding of 255 cattle and 80 sheep, and, with the exception of two lots, we were able to find purchasers for all the stock yarded. The following prices were realised:—2y.-ycar steers, good sorts £o 14s, £5 17a to £(i Gs, poorer kinds £4 10s, £5 to £5 ss; store cows, £5 Is; yearling heifers, 50s to 54s 6d; yearling steers, ' £3; yearling bulls, £3, £4 9a to £4) 10s; wether hoggets, 10s 3d; full-mouth rams, 13s; gelding, unbroken, £4.
